Dr. Rachael Ileh Edino is a recipient of the University of Calgary’s prestigious Provost’s Research Fellowship for Indigenous and Black Scholars. She works on themes concerned with contemporary issues including but not limited to gender, race and class inequalities and their bearing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Her current research is on the successes and challenges encountered by first-generation Sub-Saharan African Immigrant Women in pursuit of STEM majors and careers in Canada, with a view to closing the gap in the literature, promoting equitable access to STEM education in Canada, and generating conversations in boardrooms across universities and relevant government departments. Dr. Edino has been involved in research on mental health strategy between the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University Calgary, and Kings University Edmonton Alberta Canada. She has worked extensively on academic integrity research in Canada with a view to strengthening the research agenda of educational integrity in the country. Rachael was equally involved in Creativity in post-secondary STEM education projects in Canada. She is the Education Research Framework expert in the Online Offline Education project aimed at facilitating education access for children in African schools disadvantaged by COVID 19 restrictions. She is also involved in research at the University of Alberta that is exploring a communal approach in addressing intimate partner violence among African Immigrants in Alberta. Rachael previously provided expert research support at the Government of Canada, specifically the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the Public Complaints Section. Dr. Edino holds a Ph.D. in Educational Research (with specialization in Leadership, Policy, and Governance) from the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary, Canada. Her evaluation of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal (MDG) on universal primary education broke ground in highlighting the drivers and constraints to the implementation of the MDG in Africa. Her recommendations are currently serving as a template for leaders and countries aiming to meet sustainable development goals. She obtained her Master of Education from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Rachael is a recipient of the Emerging Scholar Award from Common Ground Research Networks at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign USA and the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II award at the University of Calgary amongst other recognitions. She is a certified teacher who has lived, worked, and studied in Africa, Europe, and North America. Rachael is a reviewer for top journals and a passionate volunteer and organizer of community events, with publications and conference presentations to her credit. She consults on projects and program implementation, leadership, public policy, gender and development, poverty and global social justice, training and development, and education. Dr. Edino is currently the Director of Career Development at Platinum Plus Consultants Limited. She brings in a wealth of knowledge. Rachael will be responsible for providing thought leadership and talent strategy consultation/solutions as well as the implementation of effective strategies and programs focused on the planning, development, deployment and engagement of people and talent. We will enjoy her experience as she will also, develop and manage a diverse portfolio of talent management programs.
